Views and opinions, especially of a speculative or erroneous nature due to being tainted by the three roots of evil (akuśala-mūla). Views singled out for special criticism are the belief in a self or ātman (satkāya-dṛṣṭi), belief that the self is eternal (śāśvata-dṛṣṭi), and belief that the self is destroyed at death (uccheda-dṛṣṭi).
