Polish dancer, choreographer, and director. He studied with Mikolaj Kopinsky, Woizikowski, and others and made his debut in 1946 with Kopinsky's company in Kraków. He danced with Poznán Opera Ballet (1947 and 1950–6) and between 1956 and 1963 worked abroad, for example with Grand Ballet du Marquis de Cuevas. He was ballet master and choreographer of Poznán Opera (1963–73) after which he was founder, artistic director, and choreographer of the Poznán-based Polish Dance Theatre. His works include versions of The Miraculous Mandarin (1970) and Les Biches (1973). He also created works for other companies including Berlin Opera Ballet (The Moor of Venice, 1975, and Epitaph for Don Juan, 1980) and La Scala (The Childhood of Jesus, 1980).
