Quick Reference

Highly conserved multifunctional proteins (16 kDa) involved in the formation of membrane channels. When oriented with N- and C-termini on the cytoplasmic face they are components of gap junctions; in the opposite orientation they are subunits of vacuolar-type proton pumps (C subunit of V-type ATPases).
