A co-ordinated vocal display performed by a monogamous (see monogamy) pair of birds or primates in which the individuals vocalize alternately or simultaneously. Duetting occurs frequently after the pair have bonded and throughout the duration of the pair bond. The behaviour has been documented in more than 200 species of birds and most Old World primates.
