A Dundee cake is a rich fruit cake decorated on top with almonds. Despite its traditional-sounding name, it does not seem to be of any great antiquity: the first printed recipe for it appears in 1892, in T. F. Garrett's Encyclopedia of Practical Cookery. Nor is its link with the Scottish city of Dundee, on the Firth of Tay, altogether clear, although presumably it was originally made there.
