A defensive pact between France and Britain against an attack from Germany. Apart from attempting to revive the Entente Cordiale of 1904, it also pledged economic cooperation and consultation between the two countries. The pact was enlarged in March 1948 by the Treaty of Brussels, when the Benelux countries joined.
