Name borne by countless early petty kings of Leinster and Munster. One legendary Dúnlang, king of Leinster, murdered twelve ladies of Tara, and was executed in revenge by Cormac mac Airt. Dúnlang's shirt was a treasure taken by Ailill of Connacht in Echtra Nerai [The Adventure of Nera]; it was thought one of the Three Treasures of Ireland. The name is anglicized as Dowling or Dudley.
