French dancers and choreographers. Françoise trained with Zvereff, Cunningham, and others, Dominique with Preobrajenska, Cunningham, and others and they both danced with Ballet des Arts. In 1951 they married and in the same year formed Ballets Modernes de Paris, the first important professional modern dance company in France, which lasted until 1979. They both choreographed works for the company, separately and together, including The Miraculous Mandarin (mus. Bartók, 1965), as well as for other ensembles. They have both taught widely. In 1990 she was appointed director of dance at the Institut de Formation à l'Enseignement de la Danse et de la Musique (later the Centre National de la Danse) and from 1991 to 1995 he was director of the dance department of the Institut de Pédagogie Musicale et Chorégraphique.
