Overview

dynamic equilibrium

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

The situation in which forward and reverse reaction rates are exactly balanced. This may be a rather transient state, although most methods for measuring rate constants of reactions assume that such an equilibrium has been reached. Alterations in reaction rates alter the concentrations of reactants and products.
