early growth response genes

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A family of genes (Egr genes) that encode Cys(2)-His(2)-type zinc finger proteins; transcription factors that are up-regulated after a variety of stresses. The EGR1 gene product (KROX-24) acts upstream of TGFβ1, Egr-2 (KROX-20) has similar but distinguishable characteristics, Egr-3 regulates the early stages of thymocyte proliferation and mediates retina-derived stimulation of the suprachiasmatic nucleus.
