Quick Reference

A gene (Evi-1) expressed at high level during the development of the mouse urinary system, Müllerian ducts, lung, and heart, but at low level in most of the adult tissues; the human homologue is expressed abundantly during development of kidney, lung, pancreas, and ovaries, and to a lesser extent elsewhere. Inappropriate expression of Evi-1 in the adult is associated with acute and chronic myelogenous leukaemia and myelodysplastic syndrome. Evi-1 (1051 aa) is a DNA-binding protein with multiple sets of zinc finger motifs.
