Ethylenediaminetetraacetate; edetate; any anion or salt, esp. the (hydrated) disodium salt, of edetic acid, ethylenediamine‐N,N,N′,N′‐tetraacetic acid, (ethylenedinitrilo)tetraacetic acid. Commonly used as the disodium salt, it is a powerful chelating agent for divalent metal ions.
