(subclass Coccidia, order Eucoccidia)
A suborder of Protozoa in which syzygy does not occur. They are parasitic, growing inside the cells of a wide range of vertebrate and invertebrate hosts, and are commonly parasitic in domestic animals. The suborder includes some pathogens (see coccidiosis). There are several families, and many species.
