A low molecular weight leucocyte elastase inhibitor (skin-derived antileukoproteinase, proteinase inhibitor 3) derived originally from psoriatic skin and found in other inflammatory skin lesions where it can be demonstrated immunochemically in suprabasal differentiated keratinocytes. It is also secreted in the lung and has antimicrobial activity.
