Sometimes described as the wife of Cúchulainn, instead of the more usual Emer, with whom she may be confused; see SERGLIGE CON CULAINN [The Wasting Sickness of Cúchulainn]. In adaptations of OIr. narratives in English, Eithne is often described as Cúchulainn's mistress; see W. B. Yeats, ‘Cuchulain's Fight with the Sea’ (1892).
