Election/Electoral Commission

Quick Reference

A non‐partisan body which determines election procedures and district boundaries and oversees the conduct of elections. Countries with long‐established electoral commissions include India, Colombia, and Australia, the last being internationally regarded as one of the most successful. An Electoral Commission began work in the UK in 2001 and promptly began to worry whether the record fall of turnout in the 2001 General Election was its fault. (It was not.)
