(b 1719; d 1775). American cabinetmaker whose workshop was in Charleston, SC. His account book (1768-75) is an important document in the history of 18th-century American furniture. His furniture is signed with a diamond and figure eight, and is often decorated with a fretwork pattern of circular or oval shapes.
