(b New York, 1960)
US dancer and choreographer. He did not begin formal training until he was 19, but taught himself to dance at clubs, his style an eclectic mix of hip-hop, martial arts, ballet, and modern dance. Between 1988 and 2004 he directed his own company for which he choreographed many works including BipolarbearNOS (mus. Evren Celimi, 1998). He continues to teach widely and has also created works for other groups, such as Union Dance and CandoCo. In 2008 he presented Fraulein Maria (mus. Rodgers and Hammerstein) for a temporary ensemble Doug Elkins and Friends.
