A developmental anomaly in which there is a small bead of enamel on the surface of a tooth root, usually in the bifurcation or trifurcation of the tooth on the buccal surface. It occasionally is supported by dentine and very rarely contains pulp tissue. It can also be associated with a site of localized periodontal destruction. See also odontoma.
