A mission proposed by NASA for launch after 2007 to survey the hard X-ray band comprising high-energy X-rays of 5–600 keV that lies between the X-ray and gamma-ray wavelengths of the universe. EXIST will use a wide-field telescope array to conduct the first high-sensitivity imaging of the whole sky to survey those wavelengths, and will continue the monitoring of gamma-ray bursts.
