Quick Reference

A multi-dimensional surface in which the energy of a system is plotted against parameters characterizing that system. For example, in molecular spectroscopy the parameters are the distances between atoms in the molecule. The concept of energy landscape is very useful in many topics in physics and chemistry, including nuclear fission and protein folding. See also string landscape.
