Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Taught both overseas and in the United Kingdom to learners for whom English is not their first language, and whose permanent place of residence is not the UK. It is this latter fact that distinguishes it from English for Speakers of Other Languages, which is intended for those who have made their home in the UK. The British Council takes a leading role in the provision of EFL overseas. See also English for Speakers of Other Languages.
