Finnish dancer. She studied with E. Sylverston and joined the State Opera Ballet, moving to the Royal Danish Ballet in 1967 where she was promoted soloist in 1970. She created roles in Flindt's Triumph of Death (1971) and Holm's The Firebird (1972), among other works. Her stage career was cut short by illness, which she has since publicly discussed in symposiums on anorexia, but she has continued to perform character roles and to be active in staging Bournonville productions, including La Sylphide for Scottish Ballet and Abdallah for National Ballet of Canada (1997). She has also taught widely, for example at Boston Ballet (1996–9) and at the New Danish Dance Theatre.
