Set out initially in the document A Smart, Successful Scotland (January 2001; revised November 2004) to provide the Enterprise Networks (Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise) with a clear strategic direction for economic development in Scotland. The document highlights priority areas which Scotland must develop in order to achieve medium‐ to long‐term economic development.
