Eochaid lúil

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

An Irish god of the Otherworld, one of several, although not usually included in the ranks of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Fand, the sea-goddess, is sometimes described as married to him instead of to Manannán mac Lir. His son Rinn was thought to have married Aíbgréne, the daughter of Deirdre and Noíse. In Serglige Con Culainn [The Wasting Sickness of Cúchulainn] Lí Ban asked Cúchulainn's aid against him along with two other warriors; later the Ulster champion speared Eochaid Iúil when he took off his tunic to bathe.
