An oropharyngeal teratoma composed of cells from ectodermal, mesodermal and endodermal layers. Epignathi arise from the palate or pharnyx and protrude through the mouth. They often cause airway obstruction. Failure of fusion may lead to a midline nasopharyngeal teratoma.
