A LIM domain protein (epithelial protein lost in neoplasm, Lima-1) that mediates linkage of the cadherin–catenin complex to F-actin and is important in assembly and stability of the adherens junction. Eplin increases the number and size of actin stress fibers and inhibits membrane ruffling induced by Rac. There are two isoforms, EPLIN-α (600 aa) and EPLIN-β (759 aa) with different tissue distribution. Eplin is down-regulated in neoplastic cells.
