Integral membrane proteins (ENTs) with eleven transmembrane domains that transport nucleotides in a sodium-independent fashion. The plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT (ENT4) is one of the family and functions as a polyspecific organic cation transporter and transports monoamine neurotransmitters and the neurotoxin 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+). Inhibitors of mammalian ENTs include dilazep and dipyridamole. See CNTs (concentrative nucleoside transporters).
