Quick Reference

An erythroid cell-specific zinc finger transcription factor (EKLF, 362 aa) that is important in differentiation of the megakaryocyte–erythroid progenitor cells: it inhibits the formation of megakaryocytes while at the same time stimulating erythroid differentiation. EKLF is essential for establishing high levels of adult β-globin expression.
