The lateral extrusion of blocks of crust that are bounded by faults as a result of compression. The northward movement of India into southern Asia is believed to have caused the lateral extrusion of parts of China and the part of southern Asia comprising Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
