Fairy mistress of Eógan Mór; she resides on Inis Grecraige, today known as Beare Island in Bantry Bay. After Eógan is defeated by Conn Cétchathach[of the Hundred Battles] at the Battle of Carn Buidhe, near the mouth of the River Roughty, by Kenmare, Étaín rescues him and his men and takes them to sea in her ships. Eógan later returns to the mainland to continue battle but is again defeated, after which he flees to Étaín's shelter on Inis Grecraige. Later still, he leaves Étaín's island and sets sail for Spain.
