also Audrey, founder of Ely. The daughter of a Christian king of the East Angles, she was married twice, but consummated neither marriage. She became a nun c.672. In 673 she founded a double monastery at Ely, of which she was abbess until her death. Feast day, 23 June; of her translation, 17 Oct.
