Quick Reference

A local area network technology which uses CSMA-CD and which was originally developed by the Xerox Corporation, Intel, and the now defunct Digital Equipment Corporation. It is a highly flexible form of networking which can employ a variety of cable types and a variety of network topologies including bus and tree topologies. It can also use a variety of transmission technologies ranging from unshielded twisted pair cables to fibre optic cables.
