A directive of the European parliament and of the Council of the European Union which sets standards of quality and safety for the donation, procurement, testing, processing, preservation, storage, and distribution of human tissue and cells intended for human application. It was adopted by the European parliament on 7 April 2004. It requires everyone who procures, stores, or processes human tissue for human application to apply for a licence.
