Quick Reference

A star that has exhausted the hydrogen fuel in its core, and has evolved off the main sequence. Depending on its mass, an evolved star may be burning other nuclear fuels in its core and hydrogen in a thin shell (as in giants), or it may consist of spent nuclear fuel (as in neutron stars and white dwarfs).
