An enzyme that cleaves the glycosidic bonds of terminal sugar moieties. Sequential cleavage by exoglycosidases can be used in the sequencing of carbohydrates. Can also be used to refer to glycosidases that act on the exterior of a cell (ectoglycosidases) which does not remove ambiguity.
