Quick Reference

Originally the term has no moral connotations, referring simply to the use or development of resources. In moral and political philosophy it now applies specifically to the unjust economic and social relationships whereby one class can abuse the labour of others. To characterize a relationship as exploitative thus presupposes a negative moral verdict on its justice.

Subjects: Philosophy.
