Quick Reference

The process of staring straight into the eyes of another person by orientating the eyeballs so that the object in view is the other person's pupils. Eyeball-to-eyeball contact generally lasts only a few seconds at the most, and is a form of non-verbal communication indicating interest and an increase in arousal. However, in sport, eyeballing is sometimes used purposefully as a psyching technique to agitate and disturb an opponent.
