one of India's best‐known poets, born in Bombay to an Indian Jewish family, and educated in Bombay and at Birkbeck College, London. Editor, art critic, lecturer, seminarist, playwright, advocate of the controlled use of LSD, Ezekiel helped to create a significant literary climate for a whole generation of Indian poets writing in English. The discipline, precision, and critical range of his own writing remains an enduring influence. His eight volumes of poetry include A Time to Change (1952), The Unfinished Man (1960), and The Exact Name (1965).
