An individual who leads and acts as a catalyst in discussions, eases or encourages an activity. In international or multicultural conferences and in adversarial situations such as disputes between labor and management, a facilitator ideally is someone who understands and can interpret to each party the point of view of the other parties, and can present the facts impartially while seeking reconciliation and consensus development.
