This UK Act of Parliament was passed in 1976 and amended in 1989 and prohibits direct and indirect discrimination on the grounds of religion and political belief in Northern Ireland (see religious discrimination). The Act does not apply elsewhere in the United Kingdom but since 2003 the religion or belief regulations have provided UK-wide protection against religious discrimination at work.
