Born in Sialkot, Pakistan. One of the most famous Urdu poets and an important political dissident in Pakistan. A student of philosophy and literature, but better known for his rebellious Urdu poetry and leftist politics. Inspired by Marxist ideology; wrote for the masses. Was awarded the Lenin Peace Prize. His poetry has been translated into all major languages of the world.
