Members of a sect called the ‘Family of Love’, founded by H. Nicholas at Emden in 1540. They believed in the ‘Inner Light’ and the birth of Christ in their souls; they rejected the services and sacraments of the Churches but were advised to conform outwardly to the religion of the State. The sect disappeared in the 17th century.
