Illness that occurs among family members who acquire a disease of occupational origin, such as asbestosis or berylliosis, as a result of exposure to the causal agent (asbestos fibers, beryllium dust, etc.) that is brought home on the exposed worker's clothing. Infants and small children are vulnerable to family contact diseases of occupational origin.
