(d. 1934?) Believed to be the original founder of the Nation of Islam. Preached Islam as the true identity of African-Americans. Recognized by followers as the Great Mahdi (savior) who came to bring the message of salvation to African-Americans. Later considered by followers to be divine. Taught followers that they were not Americans and therefore owed no allegiance to the state. Disappeared mysteriously in 1934.
