fat loading

Quick Reference

The consumption of extra amounts of fat in order to fill fat stores within muscle cells. It is suggested that the extra fat enables muscles to metabolize fat more efficiently during exercise, conserving muscle glycogen, and delaying fatigue. Fat loading may delay fatigue in athletes working at moderate intensities, but there is little support from sports nutritionists for fat loading because of the potentially harmful effects of a high fat diet on health.
