[cf. W gwefl, lip].
Name borne by several minor figures in early Irish literature. The best-known is the father of Bran mac Febail, the explorer in Imram Brain [The Voyage of Bran]; several commentators have suggested he may be identical with the eponym of Lough Foyle. Another was the father of Conn, a minor member of Fionn mac Cumhaill's Fianna.
