Quick Reference

A web‐based information and resource service which is managed by the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta). When it was formed in 1988, the acronym stood for ‘Further Education Resources for Learning’. However, the role and focus later widened to include management, technology, and teaching and learning approaches. Ferl supports the effective use of information communications technology and e‐learning for the post‐compulsory education sector. This support is provided through a series of networks, conferences, publications, skills teams, and e‐resources, which are managed by Becta. Support is available for organizations as well as for individual practitioners within the sector.
