A UK body set up in 1990, following the recommendation of the Dearing Report, to promote confidence in financial reporting. There are six operating bodies: the Financial Reporting Review Panel, the Accounting Standards Board, the Auditing Practices Board, the Board for Actuarial Standards, the Professional Oversight Board, and the Accountancy and Actuarial Discipline Board. The FRC also maintains and promotes the Combined Code on Corporate Governance. Its members are appointed by the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
