Quick Reference

The fish finger—a small breadcrumbed ready-to-cook oblong originally of a single chunk of fish, nowadays more usually of reconstituted fish—is perhaps the archetypal frozen food, symbolic of the revolution which overtook Western food production and eating habits in the 1950s. It was introduced by Birds Eye in 1955. The equivalent American English term is fish stick.
